Gardening Reviews

At least half of the enjoyment of gardening comes from the planning stages. Here at Gardening Girl we love to read about gardening, landscaping and the latest trends and products. We've provided you with reviews of some of our favorite books, magazines and gardening tools:

Book Title:Garden Plant Survival Manual
Author: Ann Bonar
Publisher: Quantum Publishing Ltd. 1989

Review: This is one of the best books we've found on common plant diseases and pests. The author spends a significant amount of time discussing preventive plant health with sections on soil assessment, proper planting techniques and compost. The second half of the book covers the specific needs of common garden plants and is lavishly illustrated with full color photos of healthy and diseased specimens. Unfortunately this book is currently out of print but may occasionally be found in used bookstores and libraries. It can also be found at Barnes and Noble online.Click here to see how many copies are available.

Let It Rot: The Gardener's Guide to Composting

Book Title: Let It Rot: The Gardener's Guide To Composting

Review: The most comprehensive and easy to read guide to composting that we've found. Writing with the beginnning gardener and the experienced composter in mind, Stu Campbell takes you step by step through the process of making "black gold". Whether you are looking for a way to enhance your garden or a way to recycle kitchen scraps,Let It Rot: The Gardener's Guide to Composting is a must read! Look for it at your local bookstore or online at Barnes and Noble.com.

This is the best source that we've found for organic pest cotrol and fertilizing products that really work!

We've used several of their products for things like gypsy moth control and have been pleasantly surprised by the ease of use and the quick resolution of the problem without harming the environment.
